I would still like to see an end to those that speed up and go through red traffic lights in the centre of Hedge End personally. Maybe the odd camera there set to trigger after the lights turn red would help.
Actually Paul, re "would you part with your hard earned cash to buy a new car without going for a test drive first..?", that's exactly what I did with the car that I'm running around in at the moment...
Absolutely TGR, you got it bang on from the outset, or did you just blog about it, whichever, well done!
With regard to "I haven't changed my position" I believe is a strong suggestion that I have?
Too suggest that we agree now would suggest that I didn't have an open mind to all things that would help make us all aware of speeding, and to that end I have to agree to disagree, my mind was not single track but open and not closed to other options.
Well you might be right, you also might be wrong, sometimes to make a qualified decision about something means you need to experience all the facts to help make that decision, (would you part with your hard earned cash to buy a new car without going for a test drive first - resounding No) not sure of the amount of research you did on the Community Speedwatch initiative? I did loads; I contacted Emily Richards the Extended Police Family Coordinator back in October, I got the forms to see what level of checks they do for people and what information a volunteer would need to provide, (If I'm going to be caught speeding, I'd like it be by a fine upstanding member of the community, and not someone who's experience section of the form states a long list of convictions for it)
I did all the ground work, and feel your comments don't reflect the work I put into it, more punishing me for highlighting the issue that the community of Hedge End have asked for something to be done about.
One last comment for you to ponder - Never look at what a person says or does, but always look for the reason why.
As you'll see Paul, I think we are agreed now. But I haven't changed my position.
I was enthusiastic about the speed indicator signs when the Community Speedwatch idea was first raised, last year. Witness my comments on http://tinyurl.com/7bry84z
Indeed Keith! I think it's fair to say we have all exceeded the limit at one time or another, too much on our minds, late for a meeting, it doesn't matter........ The point I think I've made is that whilst speeding is an issue and does become a real problem on certain roads locally, there is another option that was not even spoke of or even considered at the meeting the other night, and that is the digital read out boards that measure your speed as you approach, if your over it flashes your speed and highlights the fact, this I believe works to almost shame you into reducing your speed, as others can see that your breaking the limit. A much better idea I feel that keeps a balance of harmony between all of us. In my mind they made a poor decision will little consultation, rushed into and not given enough thought!

I think in this case it's very relevant.
