Closest to home is the petrol driven milling machine demonstration at Bursledon Windmill, Bursledon on Sunday 21 and Sunday 28 March, and which takes place at various times between 10.00am and 4.00pm. Entry is free – phone 0845 603 5635 for more information or see the windmill’s website,
The windmill is worth a visit in any case. It’s billed as Hampshire’s only working windmill and there’s also a 17th century barn with visitor facilities, a granary and pond and nature trail on site. You can even grind your own flour and buy it to take home!
The National Science and Engineering Week is organised by the British Science Association and this year is on the theme of Earth in recognition of 2010 being designated the International Year of Biodiversity by the United Nations.
In Hampshire you’ll find trails and workshops, exhibitions and talks – see the Hampshire County Council website for more information. The British Science Association has details of events further afield and there’s also an online activity section.
