Hedge End News in the News This Week (to 31 January)

It’s Twixx the tawny owl facing eviction from his home that has put Hedge End on the news map this week. On Thursday there were reports in local and national papers about how 12-year-old Twixx has been keeping neighbours awake with his late-night mating calls. His owner, Wendy Whitfield, who has kept owls for 20 years fears it will be difficult to find Twixx a new home at his grand old age and fears he may have to be put down.

It would be good to know how the story ends – Wendy if you’re a Hedgeendpeople person, let us know – or if anybody else gets to hear, update us with the latest news! It’s free for anyone to register and post stories, comments and photos on Hedgeendpeople website!
On Friday 29 January there was good news for Hedge End based charity Southampton Ostomates Support Group with the announcement of a donation of £500 for the group from the Daily Echo and the Isle of Wight Community Foundation.
The charity meets at Hedge End’s King’s Community Church and is a support group for people who have undergone an ostomy – a surgical procedure to create an opening in the body for the discharge of body wastes, such as an urostomy (to divert the flow of urine), colostomy or ileostomy (for food waste).
