The Currys and PC World Megastore is now open in Hedge End and to celebrate the store has a weekend of ‘exclusive offers’, with ‘thousands of savings’ of up to 50% on selected items from now until Sunday 14 February.

Situated in the same place as when two separate shops, in Hedge End Retail Park, Tollbar Way, the new store is 40,000 square ft and will be selling over 6,000 products. The company says it is now the biggest electrical shopping outlet in the south and has created 80 new jobs in Hedge End.

Sean Connor, Store Director: “The new 2in1 Megastore in Hedge End brings together the best from both Currys and PC World and offer shoppers a great range of consumer electronics. The store opening is also a huge boost to the local economy with 80 new jobs created.”

Product ranges will include the televisions, digital cameras, fridges and freezers, laptops and PCs available as before, but the new megastore will offer a ‘hands on product experience’. Interactive ‘play tables’ will allow customers to try products before they buy.

The store says it will also have a dedicated Apple area, a HiFi studio and an interactive gaming zone.

Also available will be a next day delivery service with selectable three-hour time slots, the option to reserve goods online for in-store collection and the WEEE recycling scheme. This was awarded the Retail Week’s Customer Service Initiative 2008 and allows customers buying new electrical products to return old ones free of charge regardless of where initially purchased.

PC World and Currys are part of DSGi (Dixons Store Group International) retail group. The creation of 2in1 megastores is part of DSGi’s major nationwide refurbishment programme and Hedge End’s is the first to open in the UK.
