Best Buy, the electronics retailer, has today announced that the Hedge End store will be opening in June.

Hedge End’s is one of five Best Buy stores opening in the UK in 2010, with the first ‘big box’ store to be unveiled in Thurrock, Essex, in May.

Paul Antoniadis, CEO of Best Buy Branded Operations, said: “We’re here to make buying technology simple, exciting and tailored to each of our customers. Our store in Thurrock marks the beginning of a new chapter and we’re looking forward to bringing the Best Buy experience to consumers across the UK.”

The range of stock will include audio and visual equipment, computing technology, entertainment devices, appliances, mobiles, music, movies, games, and the connections – for both fixed and mobile broadband – content and services to enable customers to get the most out of their technology.

Best Buy’s Academy-trained ‘Blueshirts’ will be on hand to advise customers and Best Buy is promoting a number of initiatives, such as a 24-hour technical support service from the ‘Geek Squad’, in-store try before you buy, price guarantees on matched products and bookable 1-2-1 in-store appointments.

General Manager at the new store is Susan Finlay from Hedge End.

On the Best Buy website she says, “I have over 21 years of retail experience and my management team, which has over 60 years’ experience, supports me. I’ve lived in Hedge End for 11 years and know that we need an electronics store that offers the local community good service and expert advice.”

Also opening in June is the Best Buy store in Merry Hill (West Midlands), and Aintree’s in Liverpool will open shortly afterwards.

Best Buy has also confirmed that it will be opening a store in Croydon, Surrey, in autumn 2010, creating around 100 jobs.
