69.0% Wildern Pupils achieve 5 or more A* to C GCSE Grades (including English and Maths)

This year GCSE results for Wildern School in Hedge End show the pupils have gone one better with 69%, as opposed to 68% in 2008, achieving five or more A* to C grades in subjects including English and maths.
Obtaining five A* to C GCSE grades (including in English and maths) is the target the government has set for pupils leaving secondary education, with nationally 47.6% of pupils achieving this in 2008.
Wildern has also done well in comparison with results in the county overall. Hampshire County Council is reporting that provisional results show 55.9% of pupils across the county met the government target – an increase of 2.1% on last year.
Around 14,000 pupils sat exams in Hampshire and 70.9% achieved five or more A* to C GCSE grades – or equivalent if studying for other qualifications such as BTEC diplomas and certificates, NVQs and Key Skills. This is a record high and up 3.6% on 2008. At Wildern School the percentage was 86 in this category.

With 353 Wildern pupils having sat exams this year, the average points score per candidate is 548.86, and 25.7% of the GCSEs were awarded A* or A.
