Hampshire County Council is running a competition to find three ‘Culture-all families’. The families are to act as ‘investigative journalists’ for a year, reporting back on visits to museums, art galleries, farms, parks – anything ‘cultural’ in Hampshire.

I came across this competition the other day and it seems a really good way of getting the whole family involved in a trip out and a great opportunity to give feedback on what people think of attractions in Hampshire.

The council say they want outgoing, sociable and adventurous families willing to write-up their experiences on the council’s Culture-all website. The family will need to do at least one report every month and this can be in the form of comments, photos, and even video clips.

Apart from having the opportunity to broadcast their views on Hampshire’s attractions to ‘the world’, each of the winning Culture-all families will receive a digital camera and a professional photo session, plus a free Culture-all Passport (worth £69) which gives free entry to various venues across Hampshire.

The Culture-all competition is open to all types of family and family members can include grandparents, mums, dads, carers, children and stepchildren/parents.

If you’re thinking of entering the competition you can do so online and you’ll need to:

tell the judges why you should be a Culture-all Family - 100 words maximum

describe a holiday or excursion that your family has been on - 500 words maximum

tell the judges about your family’s hobbies and interests

and send a recent photo of your family.

The competition closes on Thursday 24 June at 12.00pm.

If being a Culture-all Family isn’t the thing for you, though, but you’d like to know more about the Culture-all Passport it’s valid for a family of four for 12 months, giving unlimited access to the following places – Milestones Museum, Manor Farm, Staunton Country Park, Basing House, Bursledon Windmill, Rockbourne Roman Villa. Aldershot Military Museum, Titchfield Haven Nature Reserve, Royal Victoria Country Park (tower tours not included) and Sir Harold Hillier Gardens. The HCC website has more details.

Hampshire County Council runs a monthly competition in which they give away one Culture-
