Today is Thursday and if you’ve signed in to read Daniel Clay’s latest column I’m afraid I have some sad news.

Last week Daniel wrote his last column for Hedgeendpeople.

Author Daniel Clay has been posting a weekly column on Hedgeendpeople since February. Witty, inspirational – sometimes thought-provoking, sometimes controversial – but always entertaining, over the weeks Daniel has shared his views and experiences, covering topics ranging from football (a lot) to bad bosses, from St John Ambulance, time travel and parachuting to the recent shootings in Cumbria.

And for those of you who read Daniel’s column last Thursday (24 June) to put your mind at rest Daniel and his wife made it safely back to Hedge End, and not in the back of a hearse...

Daniel is very much alive and busy in Hedge End working on his second novel, Swap, due to be published next year. Swap is set in Hedge End, as is Broken, Daniel’s first novel published in 2008 by Harper Press and which is not only available in the US and Canada as well as here, but has also been translated into Dutch and Italian. For more details about Daniel and his writing career see Hedgeendpeople story, Local Author - On the Streets of Hedge End.

At Hedgeendpeople we will keep you posted about a publication date for Swap and on all of Daniel’s writing career news.

In the meantime, Daniel, thank you from Hedgeendpeople for your beautifully written, engaging and memorable stories. We’ll miss you.

But every good wish for Swap and for every book after.

It’s been great having you on board!

Oh dear! No more Mrs Mainwaring, no more grumpy Daniel.....who even managed to make football interesting for me.

I look forward to the new book.

Thursday mornings won't be the same again.
