Newly designed web page

Very often my heart sinks a little when I see a website has been re-designed. Oh, I won't be able to find anything, I'll hit the wrong icon, be irritated by the new graphics....
But I'm pleased to see that the new one for hedgeendpeople is a great improvement. I like the extra white space and more room for current stories. And as something of a technophobe I seem to be able to manage it quite easily.

I thought the new layout is very clean and clear and once I get used to it will be able to use it much more easily. Although I liked the old one I do think this is actually an improvement and they got it just right. I just hope that it will not keep changing every year or so!

ReportK-Meleon is based on Gecko 1.8.1, the engine behind Firefox 2, which is in itself a fairly old browser now. Firefox have since released version 3, 3.5 and 3.6 with version 4 pencilled in for release later this year. As a web developer, I appreciate the difficulty developing and testing for the number of popular browsers out there, let alone the proprietary ones (there are hundreds). Top that with project requirements and deadlines, it's no wonder lesser browsers get ignored. I'd suggest waiting until K-Meleon is up to scratch and up to date or upgrading to a better browser.

ReportI think I agree with you avidreader. I don't like "change for changes sake" either, but the upgrade to HedgeEndPeople doesn't fall into that category. It is a genuine improvement. What nobody has commented on yet, is that all of the comments posted here are automatically posted on Twitter, even the dodgy Fox-hunting jokes. The old system didn't do that, it only posted the stories. Is there a prize for being the first to notice that Caroline_W....?

Reporteverything works well for me in chrome, safari, IE and Firefox. Perhaps they hadn't heard of KMeleon?

ReportThe new buttons do not display properly in my browser - KMeleon. They expand to the full width of the content box obliterating anything in the way. Kmeleon might not be a common browser but it is mozilla based with the same engine as Firefox. I suppose if it was a DIY website you might expect it but I would expect a 'digital media' company to test over a wide range of browsers.
