The pitter-patter of 92 tiny feet! Two saddleback sows at Manor Farm Country Park have had their piglets. On 20 May Blossom had 10, and on 13 June Julie became the proud mum of 13. Watch out for news of Mavis - her litter is due any day!

My daughter was very pleased to hear that; as avid visitors to the farm we have been following the pigs' progress , so thank you!

So some piglets have been born and soon the frogs will spawn, which I heard they found out recently is done in quite a unique way. Maybe that I'm wrong about that but frogs do spawn in the winter season don't they?

Yes it's true, they breed in winter, each female lays one thousand to four thousand eggs and while, if drawing comparison, one might think that a pig is a mammal and a frog is an amphibian, that still remains one thousand opportunities for life and demonstrates, predatory action aside, that frog females are more prolific producers of life than pig females both of which are greater producers of life opportunities than human females.
