Marks & Spencers' penny bazaar at Hedge End is hailed a great success, Saturday 14 November.

Between 8.30am and 1.00 pm today, Saturday 14 November, 5,000 customers bought up 30,000 exclusive Christmas gifts on offer in Hedge End’s M & S.

The queue of shoppers for the penny priced bargains snaked around the corner with each customer able to select up to five items for a minimum donation of one penny. Most customers chose to give more, with proceeds going to St Francis Animal Shelter.

Dancers from the English National Ballet’s production of Giselle, currently being performed at the Mayflower, helped launch the event.
