The M27 at Hedge End
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, 1 September, between 8.30am and 8.40am.
The car was travelling east bound along the motorway when the driver, a 46-year-old woman from New Milton, noticed two youths on the Botley Road bridge. As she passed beneath the bridge the youths threw the stone.
PC Alex Hennessey said: “The actions of those responsible for this incident were extremely dangerous; the sunroof shattered and covered the victim in glass leaving her very shaken, but fortunately on this occasion no one was injured.
"However, this incident could have been much worse, what may have seemed like a fun game could have caused serious injury or even death. I cannot stress too strongly just how dangerous it is to throw objects from motorway bridges.
“I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information about it.
“I would also appeal to parents to talk to their children about the consequences and potential dangers of this behaviour. Anyone caught throwing objects onto the motorway will be dealt with robustly.”
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact PC Alex Hennessey at Eastleigh police station on 101, or to phone Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.

I am surprised that they were not seen as there is a field nearby with plenty of pigs grazing
