3 days to go

There are only 3 days to go now until the local elections and the AV referendum. Things are getting interesting....

I had promised my local Tory candidate that I was going to vote for him in the Borough elections, but his last flyer alienated me a bit. I find it very hard to beleive that a true-blue Tory could ever be independent-minded and promising lots of 20mph speed limits is completely the wrong thing to do to a van driver, Jerry....!

The solution to the speeding problem, which I agree is a problem, is not to reduce the limit to 20mph, but to enforce the existing one, stopping the idiots who persisit in doing significantly more than 30 in a built-up area. Stopping kids playing in the street would also be a good idea, which possibly requires better education (incl of parents!), but which also means designing all new residential building projects so that there is no need for children to play in dangerous places...

But a promise is a promise Jerry. I will certainly put an X against my Tory candidates name on Thursday.

What remains to be settled now, is whether I also write "Tw*t" alongside the Lib Dem candidates name, "Never!" against the Labour candidate's name and "You must be joking, right?!" against the UKIP candidates name.

In other words, am I so alienated now, that I can't cast a positive vote this time, spoil my ballot and let the rest of Hedge End decide...?

I will turn out and vote though. I do feel it is important to do that, given that my Grandad exchanged artillery shells with the Scharnhorst to make sure that we didn't really have to do everything that the Fuhrer decreed...!
