For people without much DIY knowledge it is sometimes necessary to ask a lot of questions. In Wickes I think that the level of response you get very much depends on the pot luck of which employee you choose to ask. I went in to buy some Builder's Sand and fortunately the assistant I asked was very helpful, showing me what I needed and the best sort to buy. However I haven't always recieved this level of customer service instore and there seemed to be a lot of staff standing around, not too busy but not offering to help the customers.

ReportOn instructions to buy a ring for a dishwasher hose I went to Wickes thinking they were more likely to have what I needed. I had to wait almost 15 minutes at the information desk before someone was free to speak to me and then they were very doubtful about whether they stocked such an item. Somebody did come with me to look but all we could find were washing machine hose rings and entirely the wrong size. I did rather get the impression that asking for an item for a dishwasher was unusual which seemed odd as dishwashers have been around for a good number of years. However, the assistant did suggest I visit ScrewFix see review for ScrewFix and that was good customer service and a plus for Wickes.
