Hedge End Shopping

Hedge End's shopping facilities get a mention here http://tgrworzels.blogspot.com/2011/06/boom-times-for-eastleigh.html
What the Town/Borough Councils should be doing, when future developments are proposed, is try to make them more like Whiteley Village as it was before it closed down, i.e a decent pedestrianised outdoor shooping area with lots of little specialist shops and free car-parking. I'm sure such a facility would do well in Hedge End, as there's something about the process of going in & out of different buildings (and getting wet) that makes the shopping experience better than being trapped inside a huge cavernous shell of a building...
It would also be a good facility to have, as the small shop units would encourage local traders and local employment. We wouldn't be dependent on the big corporates committing themselves to Hedge End.
Not sure where we'd site such a new development though...?
Greta Park...?
No, don't worry folks, I'm only joking about that. Greta Park is sacrasanct in my opinion....!
Perhaps we should knock down M&S and Sainsbury's and start again...!
