Eastleigh Borough local plan - consultation

Eastleigh Borough Council have today (28th October) launched a consultation exercise on their draft local plan for the Borough.

The plan and a link to an online consultation form can be found here on the Eastleigh Borough Council website. The documents are quite large and are proving difficult to download on my PC. You may find it equally difficult to access the plan, but it is important to persevere... 

There will also be a series of exhibitions around the Borough over the next few weeks.The exhibition will be in Hedge End on Tuesday 15th November, from 2pm-8pm in the Village Hall.

The period for this consultation is surprisingly short and includes the busy festive period, when other things are on most peoples minds. So if the future plans for Eastleigh are of interest to you, do please bear in mind that the closing date for comments is 3rd January 2012.

I would have thought that a longer consultation period would be appropriate for an issue that looks ahead to 2029 and will bring some very significant changes to the Borough. 

And call me cynical if you like, but that timetable would also seem to conveniently get the consultation over and done with before the 2012 campaigns for election to the Borough Council get underway in earnest...!
