If you've been following recent press reports, you'll see that David Cameron has recently made his position on housebuilidng quite clear.

He seems to want more homes, not least to help stimulate the economy, but he doesn't want them on greenfield sites. He wants to protect the countryside.

So that means Keith House's plans for development on greenfield sites in and around Eastleigh, particularly in Hedge End and Boorley Green, need to be scrapped, with Eastleigh's development plans sent back to the drawing board.

May it also be true Keith that with lots of houses comes lots of Council Tax Money to help swell the piggy bank? Is it not true though that it was empty long ago and now your borrowing money up to 90 Million on a Hotel and new Civic offices etc.. We are being told that we are in a double dip recession. do you think that it is wise to spend our money this way, and ask the people to support the loan?

Hi Keith, Have not seen you out trying to obtain my election campaign leaflets recently!?

May I suggest, as you have mentioned it, that we give the local people the choice of 1000 houses or an Oil Well? Or is that yet another decision that you needed to do behind closed doors?

The land at Woodhouse Lane is owned by Hampshire County Council, they have re-assured us that it's not for sale, what makes you so sure you're going to get your hands on it for development?

So what brownfield sites have we actually got in Eastleigh then Keith...?
    Is there a list...?
If not could an accurate one be compiled...?

If what you say about EBC's "brownfield first" policy is true, convincing Eastleigh residents that there genuinely isn't a brownfield alternative would seem to be essential before we go down the greenfield route.

If there were more brownfield sites available we woud use them, but there are not. The "brownfield first, greenfield last" policy is exactly the Council's policy.

Hampshire County Council own the fields behind the school: they are needed for the community not the school and will not release them unless the other land they own is released for building. This is outside of Eastleigh Borough Council's control. Sadly when Grange Park was planned in the early 1980s no real thought was given to parks and playing fields. We have achieved a park at Dowds Farm, and now have the ability to achieve the gap in playing fields.

There will be no "cramming" of housing at Woodhouse Lane and my hope is that we will see more family homes on this site. This is largely determined by the housing market, and not by councils, but the market has now moved away from the buy to let boom that saw a proliferation of small flats.
