Team members at Dulux Decorator Centres, situated on Hamilton Business Park, in Hedge End, recently challenged customers to a charity darts competition to help raise funds for the company's charity of the year, Alzheimer's Society.
Territory store manager, Geoff Pardon and former World Darts Champion, Keith Deller, organised the event which saw Dulux Decorator Centres' teams from across the South East region battle it out at the oche with customers at The Bridge pub in Woolston.
After a tough competition, the winning team from AMD Decorators Ltd, in Southampton, who had partnered with Dulux Decorator Centres' head of stores and HSE, Steve Banks, struck the bullseye and were presented with the trophy.
Throughout the evening a raffle took place, where team members and customers could win Dulux dog cuddly toys and a range of Dulux Decorator Centres' merchandise and clothing, including fleeces, mugs and t-shirts. Over £500 was raised for Alzheimer's Society, the leading support and research charity for people with dementia.
Geoff explained: "We were made up with the popularity of the event and it was great to have raised so much money for such a fantastic cause as well - we couldn't call ourselves the next Adrian Lewis, but that didn't stop us having fun."
Liz Monks, director of fundraising for Alzheimer's Society, commented: "Dulux Decorator Centres' latest fundraising event certainly sounded like a lot of fun. It's great that the team was able to put on such an entertaining evening – bringing together employees and customers to raise hundreds of pounds in the process."
Dulux Decorator Centres has committed to a two year partnership with Alzheimer's Society, and is aiming to raise at least £100K for the national dementia charity by April 2013. To date the company has raised over £50,000 through charitable activities carried out by staff members across the UK.
